NEW ADDITIONS TO THE PSYCHIATRIC MEDICAL TEAM AT THE CENTER

The Center for Balanced Living has a new Medical Director, Jenifer Takats, MD, and has added a Psychiatric and Medical Nurse Practitioner, Theresa Mason, PhD, CRNP to our clinical team.

The Center’s new Medical Director, Dr. Jenifer Takats, has a long history of experience in the area of eating disorders. She received her medical degree from The Ohio State University and has worked with eating disorders since the late 1980’s when she directed the inpatient eating disorder program at Harding Hospital in Worthington, Ohio. Jenifer was the first President of The Center’s Board of Directors and has served on the Board for the last 10 years overseeing the development and growth of The Center. She leaves the board to become the new Medical Director, providing psychiatric treatment to the eating disorder clients in M’s Place, The Center’s Partial Hospital Program for Eating Disorders, as well as overseeing the psychiatric care of clients in all other levels of care. She will work part time at The Center and will continue her private psychiatry practice in Westerville, Ohio.

Dr. Theresa Mason has a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from Oklahoma State University, a PhD in food science from Rutgers University, and earned her nursing degree from The Ohio State University. She is dually certified as a psychiatric and an adult nurse practitioner. Theresa will work fulltime at The Center providing psychiatric medication assessments and medication management for clients with eating disorders as well as other mental health concerns at all three levels of care: outpatient, the Intensive Outpatient Program for Eating Disorders and M’s Place, the Partial Hospital Program for Eating Disorders.

Jenifer and Theresa join our current child psychiatrist, Jorden Weiss, DO, and M’s Place nurse, Lisa Bond, RN, to complete The Center’s medical team.
Please join us in welcoming them!

If you have questions or want to set up an appointment for a psychiatric assessment or medication management for eating disorders or other mental health concerns please call: The Center’s main line at 614.293.9550 or Theresa Mason’s appointment line at 614.293.7571.
THE CENTER GOES LIVE WITH NEWLY CREATED ELECTRONIC CHARTS TAILORED FOR EATING DISORDER TREATMENT

As of Monday, May 17, The Center for Balanced Living has gone live with a newly and uniquely created electronic chart that is tailor made for multidimensional eating disorder treatment!

Thanks to a grant from the John Charles Sharon Fund of The Columbus Foundation, The Center was able to create a unique electronic chart for eating disorders that addresses three levels of care: Partial Hospital Program for Eating Disorders, Intensive Outpatient Program for Eating Disorders and all Outpatient treatment for eating disorders and other mental health concerns.

The Center created unique eating disorder forms that include Integrated Diagnostic Assessment for eating disorders and other mental health concerns, Integrated Nutritional Assessment form, clinical notes, treatment plans, weight charts and other forms to assure multidimensional treatment. All forms were developed to comply with CARF Certification. This chart is a model for other eating disorder treatment sites nationally.
