M's Place, our PHP-ED Program is founded on the recovery of an adult woman,
Meredith, who had an eating disorder and who found new strength in her journey
of recovery. Her grandmother and The Columbus Foundation provided the seed
money to open this program for those who have acute eating disorder symptoms
and need daily structure and support to manage this illness.

This program strives to provide excellent, evidence-based clinical care in an
inviting and engaging setting. The program encourages and enhances the overall
health and well being of all clients.
The small group experience allows the program the unique ability to be
responsive in adapting daily programming to specific client needs.
The PHP program offers 24/7 access to medical support and/or DBT Coaching.
PHP-ED provides specialized and individually tailored eating disorder
treatment to men and women, age 18 and above that consists of:
Individual therapy
Group therapy
Psychiatric medication and management
Medical monitoring daily
Family therapy
Nutritional counseling
Clients have weekly restaurant experiences to challenge them and help
generalize recovery to every-day settings as their eating patterns stabilize.
Because this program is during the day, the family: parents, spouse, partners, loved ones,
or friends-are critical in helping provide support and helpful containment of this illness.
Family members are given tools to better understand their supportive role during
required, weekly family groups. Family members are encouraged to attend the FED UP?
GET FED Program (see Family Resources on this website).
Desserts
Clients may participate in unique expressive activities such as a
poetry workshop and drumming circle to further increase creative outlets
to aid in their recovery process.

The PHP treatment team is comprised of:
Medical Director/Psychiatrist
Program Director-Independently Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor
Groups leaders: Licensed Psychologists and Licensed Professional Counselors
Psychiatric Nurses
Case Management Clinicians: Licensed Professional Counselors
Dietitians: Licensed and Registered Dieticians
Level of Care Specialist: Licensed Independent Social Worker
Chapman Fellow: Licensed Social Worker.
Each client is seen by the medical director and psychiatric
nurse at least three times each week for examination, assessment, and medical management.
Clients have one hour of group weekly with the Psychiatrist/Medical Director and Psychiatric
Nurse to discuss medication management issues, anxiety management, and general health concerns.
Helping clients interpret and synthesize new neurobiological research findings into individual
and group therapy is just one of the unique features of this program.
Patients eat individually tailored balanced meals according to their own plan to
restore and rebuild strength and balance. Structured nutrition groups offer
opportunities for patients to plan and cook meals themselves and to try on and
practice their meal plan in a supportive environment. Program food planning intentionally
uses foods that clients are able to purchase at their local grocery store.
A Taste of Partial
"…Kudos to the staff for getting me through these past 7 weeks.
You pushed me and held me, and I am so much better for having you in my
life. You have given me the skills and tools to achieve wellness, and I am so thankful…"
"PHP saved my life…I have improved tremendously and I feel
like I know myself better than I ever have before."
"…PHP was not easy, but it was what I needed to be able to live
my life. I cannot imagine what recovery would have been like without the
great staff. You may hit some bumps along the way, but take comfort in the
fact that you will get better…"
"The PHP program along with the staff was wonderful! I felt
very loved and cared for every day. Almost every activity, discussion
helped me in some way. Everyone did a great, great job!"
"I feel that being treated as a unique individual with very specific
needs has been very helpful. I think even in a group setting I still
felt I received the attention and help I needed. My experience in PHP was
a wonderful family type of bonding. Staff and other patients became part of
my life which I will never forget. I would (and have) recommended The Center
to others. Thank you to all of you!"
"Individual relationships formed with therapists and peers…
sharing experiences with peers and reducing shame and stigma associated with diagnosis" (were helpful).
